Mildred Pierce 1945

For comparisation -
my shots from the Todd-Haynes-Kate-Winlset-HBO-adaption

In the beginning of Mildred's life story (not the beginning of the 1945 film though!) her husband is leaving her for a certain Mrs. Biederhof.

Mildred saw only one way to get out of that misery:
To take a job as a waitress.

Kabul in the film "The Kite Runner"

I took a shot of this city because I simply loved it.
It is Kabul, the capitol of Afghanistan, where the movie, and the book on which it's based, are set.*

Beautiful how it's surrounded by mountains.

(I hope I am right about that? If not, please correct me!)

Ancient screenshots "Tea with Mussolini"

Cher, Judi Dench, Lily Tomlin and... Maggie Smith!

 The drama queen.

I love this scene! The statues are indeed amazing.

Ohh. And this one...

 glamourous...

Best Maggie Smith quotes:

(upon seeing Cher)
"Oh dreadful."

"Flagrantly immoral!"

(When Cher bids farewell)
"We have to be terribly brave about that"

(upon drinking on that)
"I'd bathe in the stuff to celebrate her departure"

Man:
"I'm a friend of Mrs Morgenthall"
Maggie:
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry"

 "She's having tea... with Mussolini!!"

 Maggie being very precise:
"We take afternoon tea at 4 o'clock -
and when I say 4 o clock I mean 4 o'clock.
Not a quarter past, 4. O'clock."

Cher is beautiful in that film. Period.
